Concerns still loom in the Gulf, as Hurricane Milton reached Category 5 on Monday. Destined for Central Florida, from Tampa to Orlando and on, Milton is expected to make landfall on Wednesday night and carry through Thursday morning. Luckily, the storm is expected to wind down to a Category 3 or 4 before contact, but regardless of the path it takes, the impact will be heavy.
Dry vegetable crops from tomatoes to squash and peppers to beans will be severely impacted, further accentuating the current strain on such products following Hurricane Helene. Supply and quality therein will be a key issue throughout the fall as we do our best to navigate this. All things considered, lots of moving around will be necessary to pull through and above all we hope for the safety and prosperity of our communities throughout the region.
Stay tuned for timely updates regarding the impending weather and it’s industry impacts.
